Ray-Ban

Ray-Ban is an American brand of sunglasses which was found in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb. Just over 60 years later in 1999, they reportedly sold Ray-Ban for $640. After a few years of Ray-Bans existance, an American test pilot named Lietenant John A. Macready, contacted Bausch & Lomb to create him a pair of sunglasses which would provide protection whilst still looking sophisticated, after he complain that whilst on a baloon flight the sun had permanently damaged his eyes. They took out a patent and then the Aviator was born. The glasses were made of mineral glass which filtered out infrared and ultraviolet rays. Ray-Ban Aviators were quickly adopted by the United States Army Air Corps and this resulted in them being featured in many wars. Wayfarer sunglasses have been seen on worldwide icons such as Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Bob Dylan, Audrey Hepburn and John. F Kennedy. Ray-Ban still remain one of the worlds most recognised names in the sunglasses industry with its constant changes of color, frames and lenses.
