Ten C At Triads

Sep 26th 2012

Ten c is the good looking baby spawned from Allesandro Pungetti and ex Stone Island designer, Paul Harvey. It is the fruitful product of overwhelming testing and research, not just a half hearted project because the guys fancied going solo. This is more than that. This is the 'Forever' collection.

Paul Harvey is a man incredibly close to home as he spent many years working in our wonderful hometown of Middlesbrough at the infamous ICI plant. From ICI to eventually being handed Massimo Osti's torch his accomplishments as a technical designer are almost too many to list. Following this he left a gaping hole in the world of outerwear whilst he pursued other avenues before returning to the pencil and paper and getting down to business under the Ten c moniker.

Paul Harvey's storied career at Stone Island and Pungetti's time at Esemplare seems to have given them everything they need to fly their own flag and be emperors themselves. The aim of the brand is to "look beyond what you are told to see and to value what is truly there" and this is communicated strongly through the solid collection which we are presented with.

Small but perfectly formed, it is comprised of seven pieces crafted from an unusual Japanese jersey that ages uniquely over it's lifespan. Ten c liken their outerwear to raw denim in the sense that it tells the story of the wearer and becomes their second skin if you will. The idea is simple, one jacket should be enough. Although you are able to choose from colours and additional interchangeable linings you are encouraged to invest in just one jacket and make it "exclusively yours" by allowing it to naturally shape to you, the wearer.

The unique 'OJJ' fabric is made and sourced from Japan but hand finished by the Ten c brand in Italy. It is alarmingly soft to the touch but boasts waterproof qualities ensuring it is fit for everyday weather as well as everyday wear. We're one of only a small number of stockists with access to the brand so it is definitely a good idea to move fast when it comes to this one! You can check out our comprehensive offering of both jackets and accessories here.

Herschel Supply Co. Desert Camo Collection

Sep 25th 2012

This is just the type of jazz we've been waiting for from the guys at Herschel Supply Co. The 'Desert Camo' print is right on the money and with a full collection including everything from full sized backpacks to handy little wash bags you can sure that we've got you covered. Backpacks are of particular importance. If you're ahead of the crowd that means they're viewing you from behind, with this in mind a good looking backpack is absolutely crucial. You don't want to damage your rep' now do you? The full range comes with full functionality, even the wash bag features two compartments and the larger packs incorporate embedded laptop sleeves. Herschel have your best interests at heart and they regard the safety of your belongings as paramount. Where there is a laptop or an iPad you can be sure that there's generous padding as standard to ensure your gizmos are left unscathed. It's kind of ironic that a material originally designed to disguise the wearer has now become THE print to be seen in this season. Oh well, we're definitely going along with it. Nanamica Autumn & Winter '12

Sep 25th 2012

Nanamica is a Japanese powerhouse, a Japanese powerhouse capable of producing some of the finest technical outerwear known to man. Their online store is a fine but modest curation of everything that's big in Japan. In the past Nanamica has been notoriously hard to obtain and there's few shops in the western world boasting a sizable account. Here at Triads, we've been lucky enough to be granted access and have put together a comprehensive selection of outerwear to give you your Nanamica fix.

Although the garments appear traditional in an aesthetic sense, deep down they are feats of technical ability. Take the Windstopper Cycling Jacket for instance. It's made from a raw denim and finished with cord accents but it is also capable of resisting the harshest of winds and look incredibly good whilst doing so. It is a luxuriously lined jacket with endless detail including a blanket striped interior pocket and throat tab fastening. All this is made better by the fact that it just looks like a fantastic jacket and none of the technical details compromise it's visual appeal.

Another jacket we're itching to tell you about is the 'Cruiser Jacket'. For starters it's a winter jacket lined with a decidedly summery madras patchwork. When have you ever seen that before? Not only does it look amazing but just like the rest of the line up it performs exceptionally well. The concealed hood can stand to attention when the rain falls and both the waist and hood have the ability to cinch in and tighten which consequently restricts the amount of wind that can get in. An incredibly functional lightweight jacket perfect for commuting or for sporting on those rare days when the weather doesn't demand too thick a layer.

All the jackets shown are now online but if you still have some questions we would be more than happy to help. Have a chat to us on 01642 254124 or alternatively you can direct your query to steve@triads.co.uk

Nigel Cabourn x Eddie Bauer Polar Parka

Sep 18th 2012

The Nigel Cabourn Polar Parka produced in collaboration with Eddie Bauer is as much a piece of history as it is a piece of incredible outerwear. "Old Nige" as we  affectionately call him, has did some serious homework and rifled through almost a hundred years worth of archive research dating back to the 1920s to create this inspired work of art. Not only is it capable of withstanding the worlds harshest climates but it actually looks pretty impressive in the visual sense at the same time.

Photobucket

The bold 'Old Gold' hue looks astonishingly good and this is a statement piece that clear connotes the wearer is of impeccable taste. It's perhaps the best combination of looking good and doing good since the breath taking Stone Island 30/30 jacket we unleashed on you a couple of weeks ago. What is it with orange fabric ey? Maybe they were right, the future really could be orange.

Photobucket

As well as looking the part you can be safe in the knowledge that every single stitch has been fully considered and even the stitches used to put the labels in have been sourced with painstaking care from the US and at home here in the UK. The 100% cotton exterior and goose feather filled inside makes it concerningly cosy, almost so cosy we had to force our model to take it off. Nigel Cabourn is perhaps the most important name in outerwear if not menswear and although that's a huge claim we think it's pretty true. Well, what did you expect from a guy from the North East of England?

Moncler Fall & Winter '12 Delivery

Sep 18th 2012

We're firm believers here at Triads that menswear should be equally proportioned and that each garment should be an equal measure of aesthetic beauty as well as functionality. We like things that work and do their job as they should. We don't select style over substance but we instead curate both. With this in mind we're pleased to present you with our Moncler selection for Fall & Winter '12. The guys at Moncler really know what to do with a needle and thread and few do it finer.

From a small village in France to a worldwide luxury outerwear powerhouse we have enjoyed watching them grow, keeping a watchful eye on their progress. They provided the clothing for the first ascent up K2 and now they have provided us with fine goods to sell to you, the well refined consumer. Since the turn of the millennium the Moncler brand has been divided into smaller branches and sub labels, each pursuing a different avenue to the next. Here at Triads we are proud to house the 'Grenoble' line alongside our mainline selection. Grenoble is the village where it all began but these days it is the name of possibly their finest and most experimental collection. Our picks from this collection include a woolen variation on their ever popular gilet and a herringbone ski jacket fit for both the streets and the slopes. We got our model Matthew and took him up to a roof wearing one of the Cheval Down Gilets. You can tell how much he enjoyed it just by his looking at his face. Don't you want to be sat on a rooftop, sporting a spot of Moncler and gazing out on to the horizon just like Matthew?

Photobucket

We know it may seem like we're going on a bit or even blowing a few notes on our own trumpet but we're also pretty proud of our Moncler footwear selection! Although it only includes two styles, their versatility is second to none. A mid cut suede sneaker and a classic tennis shoe are of such a nature that they work for any occasion. They even tick the box for that problematic 'Smart/Casual' dress code. While you're browsing the footwear and apparel why not take a little look at our knitted hats? The luxurious ski brand certainly know how to make a good one and they're perfect for keeping warm or covering up any atrocities that might have went down at the barbers. Feel free to leave a comment telling us your worst haircut stories but if you'd rather forget about it and just buy some great clothing you can head over here and here.
