Ally Capellino Spring-Summer 12 Luggage Collection

Mar 27th 2012

If there's one accessory we've been looking for her at Triads it's some well made bags and luggage accessories and at last, we've found a company, and a British one at that, that can provide us with the desired products - Ally Capellino.

With over 30 years in the industry, Ally was one of the first generation of British designers to achieve success in Japan (one of the most demanding markets) with her assortment of bags. Constructed from gorgeous premium leathers, heavy duty canvas and suedes, each bag truly looks the part. Key pieces (for us anyway!) are the leather Jimmy Holdall and the leather Jarvis Totes, both constructed with a soft-to-touch high quality leather. Our first collection of Ally Capellino bags can be browsed here so make sure you check them out!

Ray-Ban Sunglasses Now in Stock

Mar 14th 2012

A new brand which needs no introduction is cult American eyewear company Ray-Ban. Founded in 1937 after lieutenant John MacCready had returned from a balloon flying adventure, complaining that the sun had done permanent damage to his eyes. He contacted Bausch & Lomb asking them to create a type of sunglasses that would not only provide superb protection, but also look elegant. By 1941, the sunglasses had become popular with Naval aviators. Army Air Force aviators preferred the smaller, more squarish, American optical, straight temple glasses which can be put on and removed even whilst wearing a flying helmet. The design was also popular as the bar across the bridge of the nose allowed the wearer to keep a cigarette on it.

Possibly the best know style of all, the Wayfarer, was designed in 1952 by Raymond Stegeman, an inventor responsible for many earlier Ray-Ban style. The design was a radically new shape, 'a mid-century classic to rival Eames chairs and Cadillac tail fins.'

In 2001, the Wayfarer underwent a significant re-design, with the frames made smaller and less angular, and changed from acetate to a lighter injected plastic making them easier and more comfortable to wear. The Ray-Ban collection offers value for money, coming with a high and vastly superior build quality.

The collection is available to view and buy both online here, and also in our stores.

CHUP Socks by Glen Clyde Japan

Mar 13th 2012

Although sounding like a brewery from the late 1800's, the Glen Clyde Company is actually a Japanese firm founded in 2003, crafting fine knitted socks. The CHUP range (Classical Human's Universe Peace) was developed in the Autumn/Winter season of 2009 to present sock patterns inspired by native cultures. Expect vibrant colours clashing with muted tones and wild patterns on wonderfully constructed (and unbelievably comfy) socks.

Knitted in Japan, each sock is finished immaculately, with such care and attention being put into them they only produce 25 pairs a day!! Very limited, especially outside of Japan, the CHUP by Glen Clyde Socks are available to buy now at Triads.
