Monitaly Waxed Tan Mountain Parka

Oct 26th 2011

Ok, we never had much of a summer here in the UK, with the odd "Indian Summer" weekend thrown in every now and again, but who really cares? Winter is the best season anyway, dark nights, bright lights and obviously Christmas comes only in winter too!! But perhaps best of all are the collections, especially the outerwear, that comes from our brands - fighting it out at far flung factories and offices the world over, finding the latest fabrics combined with the freshest technologies. What we really love though, is a brand who combines the latest innovations with classic styling with a nod to vintage pieces. So with this in mind, please step forward Monitaly.

What you could call the "sister company" of the famous Yuketen footwear company, Monitaly is the brainchild of Yuki Matsuda, who has worked quietly on Monitaly since the brands inception in 1997. The name Monitaly is derived from Yuki's three loves - his daughter Monica, the military and his favourite destination, Italy. The brand itself is not unlike Yuketen in its thinking, with a distinct heritage feel and high-quality construction.

The AW12 collection showcases a true testmanent to the talents of the Monitaly design team, and although we are loving the overall collection, our favourite piece is definitely the Waxed Mountain Parka in the tan colourway. Produced using a premium Waxed Army Duck Canvas, the jacket is rugged to the core and will withstand any of the elements thrown at it. The addition of a full wool lining gives you supreme warmth with the cowhide leather detailing giving the Mountain Parka a somewhat luxury feel. You may agree or disagree that this is the stand-out piece, so why not view the collection for yourselves here.

Howlin' by Morrison Knitwear and Accessories

Oct 11th 2011

New in for Autumn/Winter is the beautiful knitwear collection from Antwerp, Belgium based (via Scotland and Ireland!) Howlin' by Morrison.

Ever since 1981, Morrison have been renowned for producing high-quality knitwear, manufactured with great care by traditionally skilled craftsmen in the Scottish Highlandsor the Irish hills. Each garment is handled individually with care throughout its entire production, from the first precise stitch to the delicate pressing and folding. The family run business are well known in their home city of Antwerp for their expert knowledge on fine knitwear.

Now, the second generation of the family have shown respect to the tradition of the hand crafted finishing technique, though in order to innovate, have created the new line: Howlin' by Morrison. While the original Morrison label will stay unaltered belonging to the father of the two brothers who have created Howlin, the younger Howlin collection offers more room for fantasy in terms of shape and design.

From the design stage through to each area of manufacture, both Morrison and Howlin strive for the best, and successfully combine tradition with modern techniques to produce garments unmatched in design excellence.

We absolutley love the Howlin collection, with the knitwear and accessories some of the finest we have seen. You can view (and purchase!) for yourself here.
